Chanel's Spring 2012 Ad Campaign Shoot

Can you just imagine spending a picture-perfect day in the turquoise waters of the French Riviera, with Karl Lagerfeld snapping your photo in Chanel clothes--styled by Carine Roitfeld!? Now you don't have to, thanks to some behind-the-scenes footage that captures exactly that from the label's spring 2012 ad campaign...

Chanel’s Flashlight Shoes

As if super-expensive haute couture frocks and wild, high fashion hats weren’t stimulating enough, Karl Lagerfeld added another mind-boggling idea into the mix at Chanel’s Fall 2011 couture show.

Ladies, you’ve got to see this one…

After the models worked it on the runway, they took their positions around the stage and…their shoes turned into flashlights. Yes ladies, flashlights. Lights on the shoes. Did they blast off into outer space after this picture was taken? No. Did the front-row ladies who actually purchase couture appreciate a spotlight being shined in their face from the shoe of a model who probably just turned 21? I’m guessing not. Is Karl a genius or is he messing with us on this one? How will we ever know? Most importantly, ladies, I’m wondering if you can help me understand when one might actually wear this couture concoction.
