Let Simon show you the way!


Simon, the 6-month-old Labrador hero who dramatically rescued (not really) and saved the life of an 8-week-old foster puppy by teaching her how to go down the stairs. If it wasn't for Simon, Daisy the puppy would still be stuck up there and she'd be there forever. If Simon wasn't there, Daisy would never know what life is like at the bottom of the stairs. Everybody needs a Simon in their life. When guzzling gallons of the sweet nectar makes you forget how to work a flight of stairs, let Simon show you the way!

It's a Caturday and a Sundog in one!


Pwditat, the seeing-eye cat and Terfel, the dog she sees for. 

 Terfel is an 8-year-old dog who lives in Wales and he can't see too well due to the cataracts that mess up his vision. Sadly, Terfel can't do what my abuelita did, which is get a pair of awesome "deal with it" sunglasses after getting cataract surgery. So Terfel just had to live with bumping into shit all the time... until his savior came along.

 Around six seconds after Terfel's owner adopted a pussy named Pwditat, Terfel's life got a whole lot better, because Pwditat immediately bonded with the dog. Pwditat crawled into Terfel's basket and has never left the almost-blind dog's side since then. Pwditat's owner tells MSN NZ that she uses her paws to guide him throughout the house. It's the cat leading the cataracts-stricken dog!

 Yes, this probably all part of the cat race's evil plan to rid the world of dogs and it's only a matter of time before Pwditat leads Terfel into oncoming traffic, but let's all awwwww at their love in the meantime:

You guys, just a warning: there is an awful lot of cuteness in this post

And the best part is, if your boss catches you "ooh"ing and "aww"ing this morning, you can say you're just working on your job performance!

New research from Hiroshima University has found that, after looking at pictures of puppies or kittens, people performed tasks more quickly or more accurately.
In the small study, 48 subjects played Operation--a.k.a. the buzzy, alarming board game that still haunts the nightmares of some of us--and were then shown photos of gourmet food, people, and baby and adult animals. Then they played the game again. Those who had viewed the pics of squee-worthy baby animals played 44 percent better than they had earlier (the adult animal pics seemed to have an impact, too, at 5 percent). 

(The cuteness is coming right up, promise.)

The teensy animal pics also seemed to affect accuracy, too: in another experiment, another 48 participants had to do visual search tasks, finding words and numbers in images, and images made up of numbers and words. Their accuracy increased by a modest 2 percent. According to the researchers, cute things "not only make us happier, but also affect our behavior. This study shows that viewing cute things improves subsequent performance in tasks that require behavioral carefulness, possibly by narrowing the breadth of attentional focus."
