Let's talk Oscars 2012 fashion, shall we, gals? The awards season has been building to this moment, where one-shoulder shapes and glittering gowns ruled the red carpet. Check out our favorites, then cast your vote for best dressed!
Most Unexpected: After an awards season full of pastel dresses, it was such a refreshing change to see Jessica Chastain in a regal embroidered gown by Alexander McQueen. She was leading ABC's best dressed poll when the show started!
Chicest import: The Artist star Berenice Bejo is half Argentine, half French, all utterly chic. We haven't seen sleeves look this good since Kate Middleton's wedding gown! Her mint green Elie Saab number was demure and exquisitely detailed.
Supermodel work: Milla Jovovich also wore Elie Saab. Her embellished one shoulder gown was pure Hollywood glamour and let her natural beauty shine through.
Most Un-boring Use of Black: Rose Byrne made a major style statement in a one-shoulder sequin gown by Vivienne Westwood. Check out that rear view! A blunt bob and Chanel fine jewelry completed the look.
Blushing Beauty: Can we just take a moment to gush over how incredible Bridesmaids star and nominee Melissa McCarthy looks in this goddess gown by Marina Rinaldi? The lighter color is a chic departure for her, and her Brian Atwood shoes have a special message in the bottom just for her--she revealed that she's been friends with the designer since high school!
Best Accessory to George Clooney: It takes a pretty special gown to draw our eye away from a professional hunk like nominee George Clooney, but Stacy Keibler's gold Marchesa number did the trick. She looks like a human Oscar!
Juuust Enough Skin: Viola Davis did decolletage exactly right in this emerald gown by Vera Wang--the fit is impeccable and her skin is positively glowing.
Pretty in Pleats: The exact color of Michelle Williams' Louis Vuitton dress is still up for debate--she and Ryan Seacrest were waffling between coral and pomegranate on the red carpet--but the fact that it's fabulous wasn't lost on anyone. It's sweet and on-trend (check out that peplum!) and so incredibly her.
Most Gorgeous Gams: Hello, hotness! Angelina Jolie showed off one of her best assets in a strapless Atelier Versace dress with a daring thigh-high slit.
Brand Ambassador of the Season: We've seen Octavia Spencer on the red carpet wearing Tadashi Shoji over and over again this season--and the gowns get better each time! This figure-flattering platinum starburst dress was worth saving for last.
Hottest Mama: Is it warm in here, or is it just a super-buff Jennifer Lopez killing it in Zuhair Murad? This is classic J.Lo, from the cutouts to the cleavage to the sleek-and-sexy 'do!
Best Use of Color: Time to play favorites, ladies: Emma Stone gets my vote, hands down, in Giambattista Valli.
Biggest Risk Taker: Leave it to Gwyneth Paltrow to totally write her own rules on Oscar night! Her white Tom Ford gown was equal parts minimalist and edgy--who else could pull off a built-in cape?
One-of-a-Kind Stunner: "If you like the dress, I did nothing," Penelope Cruz said on the pre-Oscar red carpet. She called her off-the-shoulder Armani Privé, made just for her, "one of my favorite dresses that I've ever worn."
Okay ladies, time to dish! Who had your favorite Oscar dress? Who do you think we left off? Which would you most want to wear?:)
